Jazzfest 09- Voice of the Wetlands Allstars

The ‘Supergroup’ performance of the 2nd weekend of Jazzfest had to be these guys: Dr. John, Tab Benoit, Cyril Neville, Anders Osborne, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Jumpin’ Johnny Sansong & Waylon Thibodeaux as the Voice of the Wetlands.

As you’ve likely guessed by their name, they do songs about the unique nature of this area and the need to preserve the land and the culture, all with a sense of humor and strong feelings of home and family.

All of which is great – a fantastic cause, of course, everybody should donate lots to America’s Wetland Foundation- but it’s also an amazing opportunity to see a whole bunch of ass-kicking performers all in one place.
