Jazz Fest week 2- Jonathan Batiste is everywhere.

One of the first acts we caught on Sunday was Batiste and we just couldn’t get away from him all day.

He started out in the Jazz Tent with his mouth organ, before switching to piano.

Then he was off at the Borders tent signing CDs and answering questions.

And he wrapped up the day in the Blues Tent with the Derek Trucks Band.

I found Batiste fun, and Charlie liked him but thought he was a little gimmicky. We both thought Derek Trucks was a blast.

It was one of those great Jazz Fest accidents- we only ended up seeing him because…well, because I am a weenie. It was hot, I was beat, every damn booth was out of water and since the last day of Fest was coincidentally the only dry day the Fairgrounds was mobbed.

I was actually ready to call a cab and pack it in when we decided to see if it was possible to get inside one of the tents with their blessed misters.

Lots of people had the same idea so it wasn’t easy, but we were pushy and were rewarded thusly:
