Prince of Wales Second Line

This Social Aide & Pleasure Club is based in my ‘hood and has a big ‘do once a year. Founded in 1928, and currently headed by the glorious Mr. Sidney, they Second Line Uptown- this year in purple.

Boy, oh boy- the purplest purple you ever did see.

I'm Tess Conrad, Yankee gone native in New Orleans. After dozens visits to research and write about NO's history I figured it'd be cheaper to just move, and in 2002 we did just that.

The blog was started as a companion to my New Orleans-themed shop (now closed), and give visitors a glimpse into life here. I'm keeping the blog here, even though I haven't been as good at updating it as I ought to be. I still write, not to mention photograph everything in sight, and gambol in the garden.
